Cambrian's Weekend Has Two Farmers Markets, and They Don't Run the Same Morning

Cambrian has a farmers market every weekend of the year, on both days. On Saturday it sets up in the Leigh High School lot on Leigh Avenue. On Sunday it's at Westfield Oakridge on Winfield Boulevard. Both run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and both are listed as year-round by Santa Clara County.

The two markets keep the same hours, but different organizations run them, with different growers, different bakers and different calendars. Once you know which morning offers what, the weekend works more like a two-day plan than a choice between two markets. Since September, there's also a new breakfast stop on Camden Avenue whose hours cover both mornings.

Saturday belongs to CHAMP at Leigh High School

The Saturday market at 5210 Leigh Ave. is run by CHAMP Farmer Markets. The county's farmers market directory lists CHAMP as the operator, and CHAMP's own site says Joe and Berni Aliotti run its markets. The operator's homepage welcomes shoppers to its 2026 season and says its markets feature musicians, gourmet food trucks and crafts.

The Saturday market stands out for how many growers it names. The Leigh High School market roster lists these certified growers, among others:

  • Produce and vegetables: Alberto Farms, Avila Farms, Hector's Organics, Ibara Farm, Ledesma Family Farms, Lee Asian Farm, The Farm and Valois Farm
  • Fruit and berries: Gomez Berry Farm, Rojas Fruit, Resendiz Fruit Farm and Rocking Chair Fruit Farm
  • Pantry: Mango Blossom Honey and Pasture Chick & Eggs

The roster also lists a long row of bakers and prepared-food vendors: Little Sky Bakery, California Bakeshop, Beckman's Bakery, Asby Confections, Olga Cacao, Holly Crepes, Empanada Love, Hummus Heaven, Deanna Jars, plus a chicken tamale stand. For coffee, it lists Strait Coffee and WhatCoffee & Bakery.

So Saturday at Leigh covers a full morning by itself. You can get coffee, a crepe or an empanada for breakfast and then shop the produce stalls, all in a school parking lot inside the neighborhood.

Sunday moves to Oakridge, and the market there is older and bigger

On Sunday the market moves to Westfield Oakridge, near Thornwood Drive and Winfield Boulevard. The California Farmers' Markets Association runs it. Its market page says it was formerly the Blossom Hill Farmers' Market and has served the Blossom Hill area for 17 years. At peak season it has more than 40 growers and food producers, and it has public transit access.

The same page includes a detail that only matters on certain weekends. When the parking lot hosts an event such as a carnival or car show, the market sets up across the street, next to the Bowlero bowling alley.

The address is listed three ways. The county gives 5540 Winfield Blvd., the market page gives the Thornwood and Winfield intersection, and the operator's event listings give 5404 Winfield Blvd. Use the cross streets. They put you on the right side of the mall.

The bakery on both rosters, and why Sunday matters for pie

One bakery name shows up on both days. CHAMP's Leigh roster lists it as Beckman's Bakery. At Oakridge, the market's own feed spelled it Beckmann's when it posted this fall that the bakery won seven awards at the 2026 National Pie Championships. The award-winning flavors it listed included pumpkin, chocolate pecan, peach, cherry, Berry Bomb and strawberry rhubarb, and the post said the pies come in two sizes.

The Oakridge feed also tracks the change of season. Its October posts said stone fruit and tomatoes are on their way out and that grapes, apples and pomegranates are at their best right now. It suggested asking growers how many weeks of late-summer produce are left. If you're shopping for a late-October table, that's the produce to look for, and a pumpkin pie from an award-winning baker fits right in.

Sunday, October 25: a pumpkin table at Oakridge

Oakridge also runs a holiday calendar. On Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the market is holding Mini Pumpkin Decorating. According to the event listing, kids get craft supplies to decorate their own small pumpkins.

Guess the Weight of the Giant Pumpkin is also back. The market announced it would return to its markets throughout October, and the October 25 post lists a $50 prize. October 25 is the last Sunday before Halloween, so it's the last market morning of the season for that table.

The Posh Bagel opens before either market does

Both markets open at 9. The newest breakfast spot in Cambrian opens two and a half hours earlier. The Posh Bagel is at 2005 Camden Ave. in the Lucky Supermarket center and is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Mercury News reported on September 3, 2026.

The Mercury News also reported that the chain began in Los Altos in 1992, where its Main Street shop is still open. The Camden location is its second in San Jose, after the Almaden Valley shop. There's a crepe station just inside the door. The paper reported that the most-ordered eggwich is the Meat and Cheddar, with seven meat choices, including a chicken-apple sausage, and bagels that go beyond the usual to asiago, pesto, marinara and jalapeño-cheddar. Strawberry and other fruit crepes are the most-ordered items on the crepe menu. The paper also noted the shop may add longer afternoon hours later on.

Because the shop is open every day from early morning, it works for either market day. It also gives the Sunday trip to Oakridge an obvious Cambrian starting point.

Two weekends, laid out in order

The next two weekends cover the end of October and early November. Here's how they line up:

  1. Saturday, October 24: The Leigh High School market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 5210 Leigh Ave. Coffee from Strait Coffee or WhatCoffee & Bakery, a crepe from Holly Crepes, then the produce stalls.
  2. Sunday, October 25: Breakfast at The Posh Bagel from 6:30 a.m., then Oakridge at 9 for Mini Pumpkin Decorating and the Giant Pumpkin table, plus apples, grapes and pomegranates.
  3. Weekend of October 31 and November 1: The same two markets on the same schedule, since both run year-round.
  4. Thursday, November 5: Council District 9 is holding a Senior Symposium at Camden Community Center from 2 to 4 p.m., with presentations and community resource tables, according to the district's October digest.

Camden Park's playground is still in the planning stage

Camden Park, at 3369 Union Ave., has a playground project of its own. The city's departments of Public Works and Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services are planning to replace the playground there with a new all-inclusive space for people of all ages and abilities. The city's Camden Park page lists two community meetings, on March 30 and August 12, 2026, and posts the presentation slides from both. It doesn't list a construction start date yet, so for now the existing playground is still the one in use.

If you have a favorite stall at Leigh or a bakery you visit every Sunday at Oakridge, we'd like to hear about it. Cambrian's weekly routines are part of what Christopher Renois keeps track of when talking with neighbors about where they live and what they value about it. Let's Connect.
